Galileo Vibration Plate

What is the Galileo vibration plate?

The Galileo vibration plate has an alternative lateral movement that causes the patient rhythmic muscle contractions that activate the legs, stomach, and back muscles. It is available in the physiotherapy room of the Centrokinetic clinic, along with other high-performance devices that we have presented here.

What is the role of the Galileo vibration plate?

The Galileo principle is based on the natural movement of the human gait. Galileo's lateral movement is similar to normal movement with variable amplitude and frequency, therefore stimulating a movement pattern similar to human gait. The rapid movement of the training platform causes a tilting movement of the pelvis, just like while walking, but with a much higher frequency. To compensate, the body responds with rhythmic muscle contractions, alternating between the left and right sides of the body. At a frequency of about 10 hertz, these muscle contractions are not a conscious process but rather a reflex. This stretching reflex activates the muscles of the legs, stomach, and back.

The training frequency determines the number of contractions per second. For example, if a training frequency of 25 hertz is selected, 25 contraction cycles occur in the flexor and extensor muscles every second. Therefore, a 3-minute training session at 25 hertz causes the same number of muscle contractions as a distance of 4,500 steps.

The vibrations generated by Galileo can be continuously varied in amplitude and frequency, regardless of body weight. Unlike other training platforms with vertical movement (up and down), the Galileo tilt movement physiologically simulates human gait.

Only through this alternating lateral movement during Galileo therapy is the spine stimulated by a slight lateral tilt of the pelvis. However, on vertically moving training platforms, the spine is continuously compressed.

The physiological stimulation of the spine through the function of lateral alternation Galileo allows the direction of the back and abdomen muscles. On vertically moving training platforms, this is possible, but only to a very limited extent.

In general, we try to keep our heads in a constant and upright position because the balance and visual systems work optimally only when they are at rest. The vibrations are not transferred to the head when using the Galileo vibration plate because the training platform only simulates human gait.

During Galileo therapy, the entire leg and trunk muscles are targeted. The specific training of the individual muscle groups can be achieved by simply changing the posture and body tension.
