Physical therapy after injury

In recent years, the concept of initiating physical therapy after trauma has changed a lot. In the past, patients were immobilized for long periods, considering that this approach will lead to safe healing of the patient. Numerous studies have shown that movement brings much greater benefits compared to immobilization. Dr. Andrei Ioan Bogdan even mentioned in the book published in 2016 " Sports trauma to the shoulder " that: " Any trauma to the shoulder must be subjected to a physical therapy program, the movement greatly reducing the recovery period" From Dr. Andrei's experience, trauma diagnosed with retractile capsulitis, rotator cuff injuries, clavicle fractures, have much better results if a physical therapy program is instituted a few days after the accident. Also, the treatment of any sprain or fracture is based on the best possible recovery program, initiated a few days after the trauma or immediately after the surgery. 

Our experience includes over 5,000 treated patients and we can tell you that the result of any surgical or orthopedic treatment depends very much on the time of the physical therapy program initiation. The timing of the initiation directly influences the patient's rehabilitation period. As a short example: in an ankle sprain, if the patient is immobilized for 2-3 weeks, and then begins physical therapy, the average recovery period is 3-4 months. If physical therapy is initiated a few days after the trauma and is associated with physiotherapy, the average recovery period is 6 weeks.
